Boka's beaches aren't endless sandy bars — they're coves, pebble bathing spots and concrete platforms beside clear water, often in the shade of pines and olives. That's exactly why each one has its own character, and the water in the bay can be unbelievably clean.
What the beaches in Boka are like
Most beaches are pebble or have concrete bathing platforms and sunbeds; sandy ones are few and sought-after. In the towns they're tidy bathing spots along the promenade, and beyond them lie hidden coves most easily reached by boat.
The most beautiful beaches
Here are the beaches worth seeking out:
- Plavi Horizonti (Luštica) — sandy, shallow, ideal for families
- Žanjice and Mirišta — pebbles and crystal water at the mouth of the bay
- Rose — a fishing village and calm bathing at the tip of Luštica
- Igalo and Bijela — long, accessible beaches on the Herceg Novi side
- Dobreč — a cove reached by boat, far from the crowds
Swimming in town
You don't have to go far: Dobrota and Prčanj near Kotor, Muo, and the Pet Danica promenade in Herceg Novi all have tidy bathing spots right by the sea — handy for a quick dip.
The Blue Cave
The Blue Cave on Luštica is one of Boka's loveliest boat trips — sunlight refracts through the water and the whole cave glows blue. Trips set off from Herceg Novi, Tivat and Luštica.
Beach tips
Bring water shoes (pebbles and rocks), arrive early for a sunbed at peak season, and remember that the hidden coves are most easily reached by boat or on a tour.
