Tivat is the youngest and most modern town in Boka. This is where the airport is, the way most guests enter the bay, and the former shipyard has been turned into Porto Montenegro — a yacht marina with a promenade, boutiques and restaurants. Behind the town stretches the Luštica peninsula, with the area's most beautiful beaches.
Porto Montenegro
Porto Montenegro is a luxury marina and seafront promenade — a place for coffee beside the yachts, dinner by the sea and a relaxed stroll. It's also home to the Maritime Museum (a former submarine and exhibits from the military shipyard) that's worth a look.
Boka's gateway — the airport
Tivat airport (TIV) is right next to the town, so a transfer to anywhere in Boka is short. That makes Tivat an excellent base: you quickly reach both Kotor and Herceg Novi, and Luštica and the beaches are right around the corner.
Beaches and Luštica
The Luštica peninsula hides the area's best beaches: Plavi Horizonti (sandy, shallow, ideal for families), Žanjice, Mirišta, Dobreč and the village of Rose at the very mouth of the bay. Boat trips to the Blue Cave, whose water glows an unreal blue, also set off from here.
Nature and old Tivat
The large town park is a rarity on the coast — shade and greenery in the middle of town. Above Tivat sits Gornja Lastva, an old stone village with a view over the bay, while the nearby coves of Krašići, Đuraševići and Radovići offer peace by the sea.
